About me
#

I’ve been working with this platform “forever” - well, at least since the arrival of its predecessor, the AS/400, back in 1988. I started as a developer, but later on I switched to system management, system upgrades and technical consulting helping developers create the best applications for the platform. I’ve mainly worked for IBM customers, and have only been working for IBM business partners a few years in between.

Since 2022 I’ve been a proud IBM Champion for Power, being recognized by IBM for my work for advocating for IBM i and the IBM Power server. I like talking about this amazing platform and sharing information of its capabilities, for newbies to learn about the “secret” IBM i and old-timers on IBM i to learn some new tricks.

I’m also a member of the core team of Code for IBM i, the free VS Code extension allowing development for the IBM i using modern tools, and I’m a strong believer in the open source community.

In late 2023 I joined the Common Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) and started working as an advisor for IBM on new ideas and development for the IBM i platform. I’ve signed a non-disclosure agreement and is not allowed to publish anything about upcoming changes to IBM i.

A few years back I published a few articles on my blog called IBM i Rules, but I never really liked the blogging software and format provided by Google and have now launched this site instead, running in my home lab on open source tools like Linux, Docker and the Hugo static site generator. My plan is to publish on a regular basis and have some ideas in my head for upcoming articles. Stay tuned…
